I have heard alot of stuff here from our local dems and most of it was just bashing Reps....and the same really coming from Mr Hairdo Kerry.....and I have not heard one thing that could or would convince me to vote for him.

The Ant and the Grasshopper

OLD VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house
and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool
and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is
warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house
and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool
and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering
grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should
be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

CBS, CNN, NBC, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering
grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table
filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is
allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries
when they sing "It's Not Easy Being Green."

Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the
news stations film the group singing "We shall overcome." Jesse then has the
group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Tom Daschle , Dick Gephart, Hillary Clinton and Howard Dean exclaim in an
interview with Peter Jennings that the ant has gotten rich off the back of
the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make
him pay his "fair share."

Finally, the EEOC drafts the "Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act,"
retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to
hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay
his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.

Hillary Clinton gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a
defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of
Federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent
welfare recipients.

The ant loses the case.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the
ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the
ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug-related incident and the house, now
abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once
peaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Vote Republican.

Which is dead for the moment, by the way. Does anyone care? No one has even metioned it that I've seen. Those of you who haven't need to contact your congess men and women. It is a shame that we have to try to "amend" the contitution, but if it's all we've got, so be it.

Well.....It ain't over yet. This will not go away. This issue will be back up for votes...maybe after Nov. when folks have voted out those men and women who do not care about the family.

Yeah...I know it's not...and I also knew they were going to postpone it...just like they do most everything important to the family.

Here is a rundown of the votes. Texas did well but Stenholm didn't show up here. Anyone know why? (I'm not being sarcastic. Just don't know. ) :)

Why vote Democrat, why vote at all, the American public dosnt run the country, special intrest does. It dosnt seem to matter if its rep or dem, who ever puts the cash on dash calls the shots. We have the best government that money can rent. Something new is needed. Both rep and dems are sold out. Lets see if I vote dem I get baby killing inmoral gays, that thinks teacher tenure is a good thing. If I vote rep I get greedy corporations that are shipping our jobs overseas and want to repeal the overtime laws, as 40 hours of min wage isnt bad enough. What a choice its like having to choice Jason or Fredy to watch your back. YUck

I think its the death of youthfull idealism

Miss Mally

Rogue...I don't think so...things come in waves...there are cynical generations and idealistic ones. Idealism never completely dies out...it just goes into remission now and then. We have lots of self employeed folks right now....I think that rates pretty high on being idealistic.

seems so in the big picture , but I was refering to the death of my youthfull idealism. Every year I get more cynical. It may be genetic, my gradfather was in his 90s when he passed on, he told me that - I see what America is becoming and I am glad I wont be here to see its conclusion.
That was in 1993. Every year we as a society rot a little more, it dosnt seem long before the whole apple will be gone. But such is the life cycle of Empires and why should ous be any different than all the ones that came before. Is that barbarians I hear at the gate, wheres my fiddle, lol

Miss Mally
07-19-2004, 11:48 PM
lol....oh Rogue...don't be so cynical....the barbarians will probably have to come to the gate before the Lord will come to get us. Look on the bright side....the worse things get round here...the closer we know it is to the Lord coming again.

Go look at the thought for the day...you need to memorize the rose and the thorns one.

PS....it ain't the government and the ways of the world that are taking away that youthful idealism....it is called aging.
