The Chat Picnic will be this coming Sunday, June 6th at 2:00 PM at the Eastland City Park. Everyone is invited! We'll be having hotdogs with chili, hot links, potato salad, and cold drinks.
I've talked to AlwaysRadio about the possibility of providing some entertainment. If you've never heard him sing and play the keyboard, you've missed a great talent.
Despite differences in opinion, politics, and philosophies, we've never had problems with disagreements at the past picnics. So don't let that keep you from coming Sunday.
There is no cost, so bring your kids and have a good time!

Well, I guess I will bring my piano, my boy and "Tater Salad" to this here picnic. I would make a chocolate pie, but for some reason, nobody trusts my pie making methods! We're safe of the "tater salad" though...

Now getting back to the varmits in the pot????!!!!!!!

My family scattered this weekend, and I am deserted.

I notice that so far no animals have been allowed, so wonder if anyone would object to my dropping in on a horse, if I get the chance to ride tomorrow afternoon? (Gunz, I promise, I am no cowgirl, and will not attempt to imitate one.)

I cleaned up this thread for the sake of not having so much to wade through that had nothing to do with the picnic. Hope those whose posts I deleted don't mind. Thanks to GD for cleaning up her own posts, cause it was taking me a while to get them all deleted. ;)

I usually make pies to bring to the picnic, but this time I will be lucky if I can find the time to show up. I really hope I can make it because we always have a good time.

But we might actually make it this time. Wish us luck. Here we go. We're on our way. About to leave. *deep breath* Whew! *wipes sweat from brow* *giggle* Okay, we're going. Right now. On our way to the truck. Almost there. Okya. hymm. Okay. bye

Why would you feel like the party crasher? You're just as much a part of this online family as anyone else! Only difference is that you're nicer than some of us! :D

I wish we had know bout your singin and dancin talent. I would have asked ya if I had known!

Thanks for the encouragement, Pond! I'll be wrackin my brain to come up with an idea that will help the ole cod...errr...help Mr. E to forget sooner. Oh, I know! Tell him how happy we all were to see him! That won't even be a lie! He seemed to fit in with our little group like he'd been here all along! Come to think of it, so did a few others! I hope they all come to our next gathering!

Now that I think about it, there were more new faces at the picnic than there were old ....errrr...known faces!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to say it was a pleasure to meet all of you. My mind is still making adjustments and sorting names with faces. If I didn't come around and be social, its because sometimes I get a little shy around people. (not because I didn't want to talk) I have to say that out of everyone, I was able to pick out BigGunz first. He didn't look much different than I thought he would. Some of you though, I would have never guessed. But that's the suprise in it right?

Once again, thanks to Cecil for the picnic, and thanks to everyone else for the grub, drinks, and interesting conversation.

As I reflect back over the people at the Chat Picnic, I recall the young people--Did not know them...but I did hug their necks as they were of a very liberal mind--body piercing, black waist bands, macho tough look but little skinny physique...life goes on...and a great-grandmother recalls telling people, "This to will pass!"

As I reflect over the Chat picnic ,I recall young people with caring hearts trying to find their way in this world ..I would hug their necks anyday of the week ,cause if a young person cares enough to be around older people ...it tells me alot about them...
I look at peoples face and the smile that they give me first ...Gosh , wouldn`t it be wonderful to have youth again and know what we know now. I would love to have a skinny physique but I would not do the bodypiercing .. each to their own ..Didn`t tell me a thing about the person .
How could you ride a horse without the boots ..just like music ,how could you play without the look .
I will say , the look doesn`t get you anywhere in life but on the stage ..
Keep smiling kids ...

The kids had more guts that I did and came to the picnic. Now here is your chance to support them! Knives and several others will be playing their music in the park this Saturday at 5:00 pm. Let's all turn out and support them! I don't know of anyone there that isn't playing original music. These aren't songs that you have heard on the radio! These kids wrote the music, words, etc.!! Please show your support to our local artists!!!! Saturday, 5:00pm at the Eastland park!!! Admission is free and music is appropriate for all ages!!!!

I can't go to things like that by myself. I have panic attacks! I was hoping Julie would call and say, "let's go". But she is busy moving and grandmothering so I didn't call her. It will be easy to go this Saturday because my son is playing. Plus, Mitch will be with me. When it involves my kids, I have superhuman strength! Not very often do I look back...not very often do I explain my words...but I meant my words as admiration for these boys...As a mother, grandmother--I have been through the body piercing--or the fads of those years--and told myself "This too will pass."
I wish them luck as they hold a gig in the Park...My plate is full for the weekend -- company's coming...Just give them my best. They will remember me as I was the oldest one at the picnic...
BILL AND HILLARY CLINTON WILL GO DOWN AS THE BEST PRESDIENTAL TEAM IN AMERICA...Just hope my Precious Lord lets me be able to walk all over the grounds of the Little Rock Library after it opens in November 2004....I have already been to the site, to his Mother's grave...and spent a week or so in Arkansas following his life there...Also been to Independence and followed Harry and Bess Truman's footprints, and over to Abilene for DDE's. Austin for LBJ...but have not gotten up the guts to drive down to A&M...Guess a trip is in order for the two in California...
If I do not turn this computer off there will not be a thing cooked for the weekend....

Well, I know a thing or two about the type of problem you have except that it's multiplied bye 10, at least! The trick, don't make an entrance! Arrive early and greet everyone else as if THEY had they problem! :D I've never been able to beat Goalie and Ann but that's no problem. Ann's an Angel and Goalie just tells me hello and goes on about his business of cooking for everyone. Now that I think about it, Goalie just might be an Angel, too, since he's always doin for others!

Everyone else filters in one at a time and I dont't have a problem with meeting a few at a time. It gets easier with each picnic I attend, as I already know most of them pretty well. Now, Haybale was a problem for me at first but I found out that he's just a lot like me! He LOVES to razz folks. That's why I like him so much!

Now, Pac is a horse of a different! You never know bout him! I was REALLY dreading seeing him there cause I didn't know how mean he was gonna be this time. Turned out fine, tho! He was actually very well-behaved! Well, except for the fact that he brought earplugs so he wouldn't have to listen to me! Haybale even brough pen and paper so he wouldn't have to talk to me! He was even gentleman enough to pick up a rock for me, in case I needed it for ammo later. Thank goodness, it wasn't needed!

My worst fear of all, regarding THIS picnic, was the fear that Mally would be there and they'd all gang up on me and try to hang me from the monkey bars for deleting some posts on Spin. Goalie assured me that Ann would protect me and I had enough faith in her ability to do just that so I went! Had it not been for Ann, I woulda missed out on lotsa fun like you did! :D

Pond came and brought along The Old Codger. I'm real fond of old Codgers, ya know! They are usually friendly, relaxed and informal. My kinda folks! Ya just gotta watch their type, tho! They're also the type to pull a prank or two on ya!

PhoneGuy came, too. We were all glad to see him cause he's such a nice feller! I think he even managed to convince June of that fact! :D

We were happy to see Tinker put work aside long enough to visit with us. We were hopin Linnajune would be able to come this time but she was out of town on a mission of helping others.

Unicorn was the biggest surprise of all, to me! I thought she'd be a shy little thing but she was very friendly and very outgoing. She brought along her family and it was nice to see them, too!

Rhiannna was there with her family. Well, part of her family, anyway. I'm always glad to see her and was happy she managed to talk her husband into coming with her. I thought he and Pond's husband might start building a log cabin any time!

Both my daughter were there. The younger one came with her husband and my grandson, who happens to be her son. My older daughter was there but she failed to live up to her name, MouthySue. :D My other grandson, who happens to be MS's son, showed up near the end. That boy is never on time!

It took me a while to realize just who Das and ILMKIY. Finally figured out that I knew DAS's father when he was in high school. Took a little long to figure out I knew ILMKIY's mother when she was just a baby! At least, I think that's right! Knew her family, too!

SDF, Icktoose & Monkey were there and were cute as bugs!

MS Frizz was there on her horse. She's one of my favorite relatives! The horse kept me enterained with it's antics.

Now Gd....have I ever....ever.....EVER been ugly or ganged up on someone at a picnic???????????????????????

I was gonna come...with me dog and me hubby and me kids.................but we went to me hubby's mom and dad after we got off the plane...so I couldn't make it back in time.

Next time though.....I will be sure to bring my plyers so I can pull your toes nails out...or some other form of torture. I am just plum floor at you GD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You SHOULD be ashamed. I never thought it was all that bad.

course I am a horse of a different color. I am usually the last to arrive....don't care if everyone watches me arrive and leave (even driving the wrong way when I do so).....I have never understood being afraid of crowds.....what are they going to do to you? Now being alone........THAT is hard. Panic attacks........laying in the bed alone...almost asleep and then there is a noise....you must get up and check it out...you have children to protect....now your heart feels hard in your chest....your throat closes...what if who ever is there can here you breathing?

Give me lots of people anyday.......the more the merrier...and the less likely that anyone will do anything stupid.

I"m not ashamed!

I realize that you don't understand the problem, Mally. You've never had it. Folks who do have a problem are SELDOM able to explain their fears. A while back, I found a great article about it and posted it on the old Spin. It was titled "The Snake" and it was the most accurate description I've ever found.

I've never been afraid of being alone, except for going somewhere where there will be lots of people. I'm not actually afraid that someone will harm me. That comment was made in jest. (broke that promise again!)

I'm plum floored at you thinkin you can pull out my toenails with pliers! In the first place, they're not long enough for that! In the second place, you're not big enought for the task! :D

You misunderstood me Gd....I didn't mean be ashamed that you are not comfortable in crowds....and no I don't really understand it...but that is okay.....it is always hard to fully understand something that you have absolutely no experience with......I do understand being uncomfortable though....and was trying to express that by showing what made me uncomfortable. didn't work....maybe because you are not uncomfortable being alone...all by yourself...in the quiet...or dark.

Anyway....the toe nail thing was sarcastic. I don't do manicures lol.

The ashamed part came in from thinking I was gang up on you. The picnic to me in not the time for debates or opinions....just friendship and fun. I would never gang up....nor would it be exceptable to me if anyone did.

That's okay, Jen! It's happened before but it's usuallly on the phone when that happens. It's even happened in chat when folks don't realize the name is feminine. Actually, I WAS named for my dad. His name was spelled Jerrel, tho. The Dean part, by itself, can be either feminine or masculine, as can the name Gearl. DD's second name is Dean. I had an uncle and have a brother-in-law with Dean as a second name. DD, also, has a male cousin with that second name.

At first reading the above statement, I blew a fuse...then I thought no -- once I had a boss and I ASSUMED THAT a drilling job would be certain depth and would take so many drilling bits @ a certain cost...I did not look at the log and read the samples...any way the cost far exceeded the contract bid...The owner of the drilling company came to my office slammed the door...I told him that I assumed that we would hit sand at certain depth...HE SCREAMED AT ME "ASSUME IS NOT IN YOUR VOCABULARY. ASSUME IS NOT IN YOUR DICTIONARY...AND YOU NEVER ASSUME AGAIN.
Well, I will say that back to you--Don't assume anything about my conversations at the Chat Picnic unless you are there to know the background. At the Carbon Community Center near the front door is an elegant Texas Historical Marker...A friend of mine and I decided that we needed one there...the markers do not come easily...much research goes into gaining one and then the cost is exorbiant...He and I split the cost. I did the research.
At the Chat Picnic I found out that Phone Guy's late Mom was the brilliant mind that I went to in doing the research for that marker...She had a vast recollection of events of the Methodist Church...later the United Methodist Church...She was also a Spanish Teacher many years back...I would like to say here sometimes I get the feel that you need to mind your own business...

You Do realize Gearldean, you missed the most important person. Do you Know who you missed?
Well, knock me down and call me shorty! I had several interruptions during the time I was makin that spiel and I lost my place on my list!

Yeah, BG was there on his bike and he got his usual hug from June! He was his usual charming self at the gathering. He even gave hugs to others! Even me! I'm sorry I left ya off the list, BG, but I assure you I didn't forget your presense!

Looks like you forgot a bunch of people Gearldean. You forgot Radio and Haybale also. Besides June.

You're right that I also left off Mike and Josh, his son. I'm sure that's because Mike has been to ALL the picnics! I had about given up on him when he showed up this time, tho.

Gd...Doc...are ya'll kin to Duncan aka MizzFrizz? Seems like I remember her saying Duncan was an old family name....it is one of our old old family names as well. Maybe I am kin to ya'll too.
Her mother and mine were sisters. She's more like a sister than a cousin, tho. We're more alike than either of my sisters and I.

A very wise gentleman told me never to say "I forgot".

I think it was someone else warning Maggie bout callin herself an oldtimer in my presense. I just told her she wasn't THE Oldtimer. Course, I guess that coulda been perceived as a warning to others.
