    Wreck towards Lake Leon???

A friend was going to Desdemona and was turned away due to a bad wreck and the road being closed. Any news on this?

From the Abilene Reporter News: EASTLAND — One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash on Farm Road 2214, southeast of Eastland.

The Department of Public Safety reported that Kathleen Marie Smithson, 55, of Eastland was pronounced dead at the scene at 4 p.m. The accident occurred less than a mile north of Farm Road 571 Monday afternoon.

Smithson was driving north in on FM 2241 in a 1999 Plymouth Breeze. Her vehicle collided with a southbound 2012 Chevrolet Colorado pickup driven by William Blake Wilson, 26, of Eastland.

Wilson was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and is listed in serious condition. The DPS reported he suffered a broken leg.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

I was sad when told who the lady was. She always worked at the lumber yard (Higginbotham's) and had waited on me . Always such a nice person. Kathy was the hardest working employee.... such a small lady, but worked harder than a man.
I am sorry for her family.

    Where did she live?

I hired Kathy at Higginbotham's way back when I managed it. She was a hard worker and a great asset to the store.

When they held the benefit garage sale at Higginbotham for Mitch Riffle, she was there helping set everything up and helping to run it. That was her vacation time.

I'm am so saddened by her passing. She will be missed.

I was thinking she worked there when you managed it, Julie. Kathy was always very nice and very helpful. We will all miss her.
